What is a clinical trial?
A clinical trial is a research study that evaluates new medical treatments to determine if they're safe and effective. This Fatty Liver study follows strict scientific standards and FDA regulations to protect participants' safety and rights. By participating, you're helping to advance medical knowledge and potentially improve future treatments for people with Fatty Liver Disease.
What is the purpose of this study?
This research study is evaluating a targeted therapy designed to potentially reduce liver inflammation and fibrosis, with the goal of helping improve liver health and quality of life for patients with Fatty Liver Disease (MASH/NASH).
What is the liver scan?
It's a FibroScan, a quick, painless scan similar to an ultrasound. You lie on your back while a small probe rests against your right side. It takes about 15 minutes, uses no needles, and measures fat and stiffness (scarring) in your liver.
Do I have to join the study to get the scan?
No. The scan comes with no commitment. After you see your results, you decide.
What are the study medications?
The study medication is an investigational medicine given once a week. It isn't approved for fatty liver; that's what the study is testing. 2 in 3 participants get the study medication and the rest get a placebo, an inactive look-alike.
Could I get a placebo?
Yes. 2 in 3 people get the study medication and the rest get a placebo. Everyone gets the same visits, scans and lab work.
I take Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or Zepbound. Can I join?
Not this study. Leave your number and we'll reach out if another study fits.
How long will the study last?
It depends on the study protocol. You'll have regular clinic visits for monitoring and liver health checks, and we'll walk you through the full schedule before you decide whether to take part.
What are the benefits of participating?
Participants receive comprehensive Fatty Liver Disease monitoring and care at no cost, including regular assessments, laboratory tests, liver health evaluations, and study medications. You'll be compensated for your time and travel expenses. While individual benefits cannot be guaranteed, these studies aim to evaluate whether investigational therapies can help reduce liver inflammation and improve liver health.
Do I need insurance to participate?
No, insurance is not required. All study-related care, including study medications, clinic visits, tests, and procedures, are provided at no cost to eligible participants. Tell us what medications you take. Some, including GLP-1 medications like Ozempic or Wegovy, mean this study isn't a fit.
